This 10-month program provides an understanding of autism spectrum disorders, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical applications. The curriculum is designed to help prepare graduates with additional skills in special education.

The program is divided into ten four-week academic periods (modules), each covering aspects of autism education

• Characteristics and Diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorders: Study how to identify and understand the characteristics and diagnostic criteria for ASD.
• Research Methods in Special Education:Work on research skills specific to the field of special education.
• Curriculum Design and Adaptation for Students with Autism: Study how to design and adapt curricula to meet the needs of students with autism.
• Legal and Ethical Issues in Special Education: Work to understand the the legal and ethical considerations that guide special education practices
• Advanced Topics in Autism Spectrum Disorders :Explore complex issues and advanced topics in the education of students with ASD.
• Communication and Social Skills Development in Autism: Study strategies for enhancing communication and social skills in individuals with autism.
• Applied Behavior Analysis Techniques: Study behavioral interventions and techniques to support positive behavior in students with ASD
• Technology and Autism Interventions: Explore the role of technology in supporting individuals with autism.
• Family-Centered Practices in Special Education: Work to understand the importance of involving families in the education and support of students with autism.
• SPED Capstone Project: Demonstrate your understanding of the subject through a comprehensive capstone project.

At Remington College, we are dedicated to fostering the professional growth of our students. Prospective students must complete the application process and participate in a pre-admission interview and assessment with the Dean of Graduate Studies. This assessment evaluates the applicant’s readiness for graduate studies. To begin, speak to our Admissions Department to gain information about the program.

Applicants seeking admission to our Special Education (MA) programs will need to complete the following to apply:

• Application: After speaking with Admissions, you'll need to complete the application. This will ask for basic personal information and details about your educational background. Make sure to provide accurate and up-to-date information to ensure a smooth review process.
• Transcripts: Applicants must provide documentation of a bachelor's degree earned from an accredited college or university. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required. Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended must be submitted as part of the application process.
• Resume: Applicants must be actively employed in a K-12 educational setting. This may include positions such as teacher, instructional aide, or other educator roles. A current resume describing your current employment is required.
• Professional Reference: Applicants must have at least one reference from a leader within their current place of employment. This reference must complete and submit Remington College’s Special Education Master’s Degree Program Reference Form directly to the College at Graduate-Admissions@lakeviewbungalow.com
• Interview with the Dean of Graduate Studies: Following your application review, qualified candidates will be invited for an interview with Dr. Henson. This is an opportunity to further discuss your goals, fit for the program, and how you can contribute to our academic community. It’s a friendly and informative conversation, aimed at understanding your passion and commitment to the program.

After the interview, our team will review all the components of your application and send you an official decision letter. If accepted, you'll receive information on the next steps, including orientation and registration details.
